With the SMART DOG Trainer App, there's no need for a handheld remote. Bluetooth® technology makes it possible for you to connect your smartphone or tablet to the training collar and gives you the access to send a vibration, tone or static stimulation to your dog’s training e-collar from up to 70 m distance.

This training collar perfectly matches dog parents who wanted a cool, fun and easy way to teach their pets new tricks. The SMART DOG Trainer helps to reinforce desirable behaviors and keep dogs from doing things such as jumping, digging, etc.

HOW BLUETOOTH WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY WORKS

Your smartphone will be connected to The PetSafe SMART DOG™ Remote Trainer through the Bluetooth® wireless technology. With this combination, you have an easy, convenient way to communicate with your pet. The SMART DOG™ Trainer uses low energy Bluetooth® technology.

It is easy to use, and it does not use cellular data and has a much longer range than standard Bluetooth® technology.

The remote trainer can be used to teach new techniques, eliminate bad behavior and reinforce good behaviors. You will definitely see improvements in the consistency and correctly use of the product.

APP ICON KEY DEFINITIONS

Tone Button: The training electric collar delivers a tone with non-adjustable volume.
Vibration Button: The training e collar delivers 1 non-adjustable level of vibration stimulation.
Static Button: The Training Collar delivers 1–15 levels of static stimulation that can be adjusted with the Static Level Adjuster.
Remote Icon: The training buttons are displayed and ready to use. This icon also indicates that the app is connected to the training collar.

OPERATIONAL GUIDES

STEP 1: Fit the Training Collar

Important: The proper fit and placement of your training collar are important for effective operation. The contact points must have direct contact with your dog’s skin on the underside of his neck.

To ensure a proper fit, please follow these steps:

1.  Make sure that the training collar is turned off.
2.  Start with your dog standing comfortably
3.  Place the training collar on your pet so that the PetSafe® logo is right side up and the training collar is directly under your dog’s chin. Centre the contact points underneath your dog’s neck, touching the skin NOTE: It is sometimes necessary to trim the hair around the contact points to make sure that contact is consistent. Longer contact probes is also included.
4.  Ensure that the dog training collar is not too tight by inserting one finger between the end of a contact probe and the skin of the dog’s neck. The fit should only be enough that the probe is touching the skin without constricting the dog
5.  Recheck the fit after a few minutes that your dog is wearing the remote receiver dog training collar. When your dog becomes more comfortable, check the fit the training collar again.
6.  Trim the training collar as follows
7.  Using the pen, mark the strap for the desired length of the receiver dog training collar. Give some room for the growth of your pup or if your dog has a thick and long coat of fur. Detached the dog training collar from your dog and cut off the excess part. Seal the edge of the cut part and frayed the edge with a flame.

CAUTION - Shaving the coat of your dog around the neck area might cause skin irritation. Just cut off some hair at the part of the contact points. Take off the collar every 12 hours of 24 hours period to avoid skin irritation

STEP 2: Charge the Training Collar
Excessive charging can shorten battery life. We do not recommend charging your training collar daily unless a low battery indication is shown.

1.  Lift the rubber cover protecting the training collar charging jack and connect the charger.
2.  Plug the charger into a standard electrical wall outlet. The red LED will appear.
3.  A recharge takes no more than 5 hours. Before using the training collar, please make sure that it is fully charged. The green LED is the indicator of solid after charging is complete.
4.  When the training collar is charged, replace the rubber cover.

TO TURN THE TRAINING COLLAR ON

• Press and hold the on/off button until the training collar beeps high to low, and then release. The red LED will be illuminated during the button press and will turn off when the training collar turns off.

RECHARGEABLE BATTERY

1.  Your electronic training collar will require a full charge before you begin using it.
2.  You need to charge fully once every 4 to 6 weeks when you wish to store your training collar for a long period.
3.  Not recommended to charge daily unless a low battery indication is shown.

TRAINING GUIDE

Stimulation Methods

• SMART DOG by PetSafe Remote Trainer uses 1 beep, 1 vibration, and 15 levels of static stimulation.
• This way, you can choose the stimulation type that is best suited for your pet personality. Each dog has a different temperament, and some forms of stimulation work better than others.
• This will make your training effective and flexible according to your dog’s temperament.

Tone (Beep)

• The SMART DOG Tone can be used as a warning before vibration or static stimulation to stop unwanted behaviors.
• Trainer tone volume is non-adjustable. With the proper training, your dog will learn that they will get stimulation only if you do not like their behaviours.
• The tone stimulation can be used for reinforcing positive behaviors.
• But you should absolutely never use tone for correcting bad behaviour and reinforcing positive behaviour to avoid confusion.
   

Vibration Only

The SMART DOG Trainer by PetSafe has one non-adjustable level of vibration stimulation. When you push the vibration button, the contact points on the training collar will vibrate to interrupt the dog’s behavior. In this way, by using the vibration alone or just before giving your dog the static stimulation of not complying with your command, this will give your dog the chance to decide whether to comply with your command before it gets a static stimulation.

DOG TRAINING RECOMMENDATIONS

Basic Training - Training starts the moment you bring your puppy home. You should begin basic training immediately. While your dog will not be ready for the PetSafe product until 6 months of agree

Remote Trainer - When your dog understands the basic obedience commands, introduce your SMART DOG Collar.

Stop Unwanted Behaviour - The behavior you redirect them to should be “incompatible” with the unwanted behavior. The level of stimulation should be enough to interrupt your dog and give you the ability to redirect your dog’s attention to another behavior.

One Command at a Time - Teach your dog one command at a time.

Conditioning the Collar - While your dog is wearing the collar, spend ample time playing and letting your dog be a dog. Make sure that the dog will not see or associate your smartphone as the remote controller of the stimulation.

 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is my Pet is safe from static stimulation?	? It is harmless to your pet while the stimulation is unpleasant.
How old does a pet have to be before using SMART Dog Trainer?	? This receiver collar is recommendable to be used for the pets on  6 months old and above to learn the basic obedience command such as “Sit” or “Stay” before using the collar. The training collar may be too large for dogs under 3.6 kg.
Will my dog still continue to wear the training collar once my pet is trained and is obeying commands?	? Your dog needs to wear the training collar from time to time for reinforcement.
Is Training Collar waterproof?	? Yes
How long should I continuously deliver stimulation to my pet?	? 10 seconds is the maximum amount of time you can deliver stimulation to your pet. The app will time-out after 10 seconds and the continuous stimulation button must be pressed and released again.

USING TEST LIGHT INSTRUCTIONS

1.  Turn on Dog Training Collar.
2.  Hold and touched the Test Light Contacts to the Contact Points.
3.  On the hold press the Stimulation Button.
4.  The collar is working if the Test Light is flashing. Note: In changing the Stimulation Levels to higher, the Test Light tool will flash brighter.
5.  Turn off Dog Training Receiver Collar.

Keep the Test light tool for future use or if necessary. Note Change the battery of the Test Light tool if it does not flash and try to re-test again. Call the Customer Care Center or visit our website: thedogline.com.au if Test Light still does not flash,
